Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt

In her debut novel, Van Pelt depicts a remarkably bright octopus who is confounded by remarkably obtuse humans!

After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began janitorial duties at an aquarium. Keeping busy helps her cope, especially since her eighteen-year-old son mysteriously vanished in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova befriends the curmudgeonly Marcellus, an octopus living at the aquarium. The invertebrate knows more than anyone can imagine – including what happened to Tova’s son. In response to her kindness, Marcellus must use every trick he can muster to unearth the truth for her before it’s too late.
